The arithmetic
Thirteen calculators for the number after tax, not the number on the offer
What goes wrong when you compare two jobs in your head, and how Jobtiv's thirteen calculators use the same 2026/27 tax registry as the Salary Negotiator.
Two headlines cannot be compared in your head
A £42,000 seat with a pension and a commute is not "less than" a £45,000 seat without them because 45 is bigger than 42. The failure is mixing units: gross with net, salary with day rate, this year with a raise that loses to inflation, a remote day with a season ticket.
People then accept the larger headline, meet the deduction, and only then do the arithmetic that should have been the decision. The Salary Negotiator sits next door for the conversation. This hub is the arithmetic, split into separate tools so each unit stays a unit.
One registry, thirteen tools, each with one job
Take-home, reverse tax ("what salary do I need"), compare two offers, lifetime earnings, real hourly rate, work-from-home value, raise versus inflation, benefits, a market-check, then the contractor set: day rate versus salary, tax set-aside, inside or outside IR35, parental rights on a contract. Each calculator is a separate page. They share the tax registry with the negotiator, so a 2026/27 rate change lands in one place.
Worked illustration, not a promise: on £30,000 in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland with no student loan, income tax and take-home after tax and NI are listed below, from the same GOV.UK tables dated 6 April 2026. Plan 2 student loan, if you switch it on, is 9% above the Plan 2 threshold listed below. We do not guess your tax code.

What Meera Vossgard is not doing in her head
This is a fictional example CV, written to show the template. It is not a real person.
Meera Vossgard is a fictional management accountant in Cardiff. Comparing a permanent variance-pack seat with a contract day rate is exactly the mix of units this hub exists to stop. Day Rate vs Salary and Tax Set-Aside are the pages for that mix. Take-Home is the page for the permanent number.
She still has to enter the figures. The hub will not open her P60. It will not file a return. It will not tell her which job to want.
When the calculators will not help
They are not HMRC, not payroll, and not advice. Scotland is not fully modeled. IR35 review is a structured checklist, not a status determination. Parental rights on a contract are a map of statutory figures we have sourced — not your employer's scheme. If a figure is not in the registry, we cut it rather than approximate.
Questions
- Is this the same as the Salary Negotiator?
- No. The negotiator is band, percentile, take-home, and a script for a conversation. This hub is the arithmetic split into thirteen calculators that share the same tax tables.
- Which tax year is this?
- United Kingdom 2026/27, tables as of 6 April 2026, from GOV.UK income tax rates. Other jurisdictions have their own registry files.
- Do you store my salary?
- You run the numbers in the calculator you opened. Treat it as an illustration you asked for, not as a filed return.
