The message

Writing to a person without asking to pick their brain

What goes wrong in a "happy to connect" message, and how Jobtiv drafts outreach from your profile and the person you are writing to.

Open Outreach messages

The brain-pick is a request with no payload

"I'd love to pick your brain" asks a stranger for unpaid consulting and offers nothing they can evaluate. The failure is not that networking is fake. It is that the message contains no work: no campaign, no number, no reason this person — not the entire industry — is the reader.

The other failure is the cover letter pasted into LinkedIn, which the reader deletes because they were not hiring and you did not say what you wanted in the first three lines.

Draft from your profile and the person in front of you

You name who you are writing to and why. The tool drafts from your existing bullets — open rates, campaign counts, the actual job — rather than from a stack of networking adjectives. You edit. You send on whatever network you use. Jobtiv does not send it and does not have their inbox.

This is a different job from the cover letter. A cover letter answers a posting. An outreach message asks a specific person for a specific next step (a 15-minute call, a name, a "not hiring") and has to fit in a window they will actually read.

What Idris Pellwyn can put in the first lines

This is a fictional example CV, written to show the template. It is not a real person.

Idris Pellwyn, Marketing Manager, Manchester. Fictional. Used here as Idris.

Idris Pellwyn is a fictional marketing manager in Manchester. A message that can be evaluated names the 14,000-address list, the open rate from 18% to 27%, and 6 catalogue campaigns a year — then asks one thing. A message that says "always interested in new opportunities in homewares" cannot be evaluated.

The draft can start from those bullets. It cannot invent a CMO title. It cannot claim a meeting that has not been offered.

When a draft will not help

A message is not a relationship. If you have nothing to name, the draft will be empty of work, which is the original problem. We do not send, follow up, or scrape profiles. And this is the wrong tool for a cover letter to a posted job — that is the cover-letter generator.

Questions

Does Jobtiv send LinkedIn messages?
No. It drafts text. You paste it where you actually write to people.
Is this a cover letter?
No. Cover letters answer a posting. Outreach asks a person for a next step when there may not be a posting.
What if I do not know who I am writing to?
Find a name first. A draft without a person is a poster, not a message.
