The work
A page of work, not a PDF nobody opens
What goes wrong when work lives in a 12MB PDF or a GitHub dump, and how Jobtiv builds a public page from the projects already on your profile.
Attachments are where projects go to die
A hiring manager who asked for work samples is often sent a zip, a Figma link with no context, or a GitHub profile that is 80 forks and one real repo. The failure is not that the work is bad. It is that the reader cannot see, in one sitting, what was yours, what changed, and what to click.
A designed PDF "portfolio" has the same parse problem as a two-column resume, plus a file-size problem. People do not open 12MB on a phone. So the work never arrives.
Projects already on the profile, published as a page
Portfolio builder publishes a page from the projects, case notes, and samples you already stored on the profile — the same records intake collected. You choose what is public. You get a link. Search indexing of that link is a separate switch; it defaults off.
This is not Resume Studio. Studio exports a PDF of roles and bullets. The portfolio is a page of work. If you have no projects on the profile, the page is empty, which is the correct empty state, not a failure of the template.
What Saskia Vellam can put on the page
This is a fictional example CV, written to show the template. It is not a real person.
Saskia Vellam is a fictional software engineer. A portfolio page that earns its slot is the charge-endpoint write-up: p95 from 820ms to 210ms, the two joins, the cache — a project a reader can finish. A GitHub dump of the TypeScript client without that story is the original problem in a prettier skin.
The builder will not invent a case study from a bullet. If the project was never added to the profile, it is not on the page.
When a portfolio will not help
Some seats never ask for one. A ward nurse's work is usually the resume, not a public page of patients. If your projects are confidential, a public page is the wrong object. We do not host files that are not yours to publish, and we do not guarantee that a published page will rank.
Questions
- Is this a resume?
- No. The resume is Studio. This is a page of projects from the same profile.
- Will search engines find my page?
- Only if you switch that on. The default is off. A public link is not the same as an indexed page.
- Can I attach a 12MB PDF instead?
- You can still email anyone anything. The builder exists because that file often goes unopened.
