Two versions

What actually changed between two resumes

What goes wrong when you keep v3 and v7 of the same resume in a folder, and how Jobtiv compare puts two saved versions side by side.

Open Compare

Memory is a bad diff tool

After the fourth export, you no longer know whether this week's PDF still has the discovery bullet or whether you swapped it for the cycle-time line and then swapped it back. Folders named "final_v7" do not record the delta. Opening two PDFs on a laptop and alt-tabbing is how a date disappears and nobody notices until the posting closes.

The cost is not vanity versioning. It is sending the generalist file to the specialist posting because you could not see, in one view, that this copy dropped the billing-error numbers.

Two saved versions, one screen

Compare sits on versions you already saved in the product — not on two random desktop files. You pick A and B. The screen shows them together so a missing bullet, a changed date, or a reordered job is visible as a difference rather than as a feeling.

It will not tell you which version is "better". It will show you what is not the same. Deciding which file to export still happens in Studio, against the posting in front of you.

What Priya Solent-Wade is checking

This is a fictional example CV, written to show the template. It is not a real person.

Priya Solent-Wade, Product Manager, Bristol. Fictional. Used here as Priya.

Priya Solent-Wade is a fictional product manager in Bristol. One version leads with 22 discovery interviews and the billing-error pile falling from 41 to 17. Another leads with activation moving from 54% to 67% and cycle time from 9 weeks to 6.

Compare is how she sees that the specialist payments posting still has the billing-error numbers, and that the generalist PM posting dropped them. It does not choose for her.

When compare will not help

It will not compare you with another person. It will not open a Word file from an email. If you have only one saved version, there is nothing to diff. Write the second version in Studio first.

Questions

Can I compare my resume with someone else's?
No. Compare is for two of your saved versions. It is not a candidate-versus-candidate tool.
Does compare pick the stronger version?
No. It shows the difference. You still choose which file to export for the posting in front of you.
Where do the versions come from?
From resumes you have already saved in Jobtiv. Desktop PDFs that never entered the product are not in the list.
